Victory Junction Med Camp 101 to Educate Healthcare Professionals on Power of Medical Specialty Camps

RANDLEMAN, N.C. (Feb. 11, 2025) – Victory Junction is proud to host its second annual Med Camp 101, a free, one-day educational conference on February 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., designed to provide healthcare professionals with firsthand experience of the transformative power of medical specialty camps. Sponsored by United Healthcare, the event offers an in-depth look at how Victory Junction provides adaptive, life-changing experiences that help children with serious and chronic medical conditions thrive in a fun, safe, and empowering environment.
The conference will feature a keynote session by Dr. Cara Haberman, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine, titled “What Camp Has Taught Me about Life with Chronic Illness and Disability.” Attendees will gain insights into the challenges faced by children with medical conditions and their families, including healthcare bias, fragile child syndrome, and caregiver burnout.
Participants will be treated to lunch, snacks, and can earn up to 3.75 continuing education credits while gaining valuable insights into the impact of medical specialty camps on pediatric care.
Breakout sessions will cover a range of relevant topics, including:
- Being a Camp Champ is for YOU! – How research-backed camp experiences benefit children and families, led by Angela Bryan, M.Ed., CCLS.
- Translating Camp Medicine Into the “Real” World – Practical skills for working with pediatric medical equipment and adaptive daily living tasks, presented by Lauren Hancock, MSN, RN, CPNP-AC, CHPPN.
- Camp Gives Kids (and Their Families) a World of Good – A health plan perspective on the impact of camp on long-term well-being, led by Cindi Ehlers & Hayley Sink of Trillium Health Resources.
- Creating a Cycle of Inclusion – A deep dive into fostering an inclusive environment, presented by Jonathan Lemmon, COO of Victory Junction.
