Camp Update

We continue to put plans together for spring and summer 2021 and want to be sure that we are releasing that information in the most accurate way possible. Therefore, please look for more communication regarding 2021 program structure coming your way and on our website November 16th. Due to the special needs of our campers, we have a few requirements that our summer staff must meet. Volunteers must be 19 years of age or older. 18-year-old applicants are also eligible once a year has elapsed since high school graduation. For example, if you graduate in May 2019, you would be eligible to apply after May 2020.

Summer staff positions are residential and require a commitment for the entire summer (Mid-May through Mid-August). Victory Junction is a high energy working environment, so our staff must physically and mentally able to help campers while maintaining a positive outlook. Program Counselors will have additional training in their specific area.

Cabin Counselors spend each week empowering campers to do more than they ever imagined.  They serve as the primary role model for six to eight campers on a weekly basis. Counselors will assist campers with activities of daily living, provide support and encouragement at program areas and ensure the health and safety of our campers.

As a Program Counselor, you will specialize in a specific program area providing intentional programming to our campers. Plan and facilitate safe activities that are catered to the specific needs of our campers each week. When not facilitating the activity in the program area, program counselors will transition back to the cabin and provide support to campers.

Program Counselor positions include:
– Adventure (Tower, Swing, Zipline)
– Archery
– Arts and Crafts
– Boating and Fishing (Lifeguard Certification required)
– Bowling/Adams Race Shop
– Sports and Recreation
– Theater
– Waterpark (Lifeguard Certification required)

Our summer camp program runs from June through August. The summer staff application opens on December 1st.

Job Specifics

Positions require on-site residence for the duration of summer.
Minimum age requirement: 19 years old, or 18 years old if 1 year post High School graduation (If graduated May 2021 or prior you would be eligible to apply).
Contract dates span from mid-May to early August (some positions require additional training).
Positions that require additional training is conducted onsite.
Salary range for seasonal summer positions range from $225-$300 per week.

Seasonal Summer Staff – Position Overview

Program Counselors specialize in a specific program area providing intentional programming to our campers and their families. They plan and facilitate safe activities that are catered to the specific needs of our campers each session. When not facilitating the activity in the program area, program counselors will transition back to the cabin and provide support to campers and their families.

Cabin Counselors will serve as the primary role model for four campers on a weekly basis during peer programming. In this role, you will assist campers with activities of daily living, provide support and encouragement at program areas, and ensure the health and safety of our campers. During family retreats and summer day camps, you will serve as a Family Pal. This role will include welcoming, escorting, interacting and engaging with campers and their families. Family Pals will provide support, assistance, and encouragement at program areas and ensure the health and safety of our campers and their family members.

For the Leadership Staff positions we aim to hire 6 seasoned staff who will be great ambassadors for our programs, highly motivated and well-respected leaders among peers, and someone who can help us maintain a positive camp culture, assist with daily camper and staff needs, and support the leadership of camp. The six hired staff members are placed into one of two positions Unit Manager or Support Leader. For the Unit Manager positions we hire three staff based on the above qualifications. These positions not only depend on the applicant’s personal ability, but their ability to work in a team environment. The final grouping of applicants takes a very thorough process amongst the Full-Time staff, especially the supervisor of Unit Managers. The Unit Manager team can consist of both male and female staff, but preferably at least one female and one male on the team to help with issues that may arise on cabin row. As far as the Support Leader positions, we hire three staff members that focus specifically on behavioral support, special events, or program areas.
