Camp Beyond Our Gates

At Victory Junction, we believe every child/adolescent, no matter their illness or ability, deserves the chance to be a kid and enjoy experiences like every other person their age. REACH is our camp outreach program. REACH allows us to take a little camp magic to pediatric patients/families in hospitals and outpatient clinics across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia!

What does a REACH visit look like you might ask? The goal behind a programming day is bring a smile to their face and help distract them from their hospitalization and/or clinic visit. We receive a list of patients to see from child life specialists, we focus on ages 4-16 years old but can see older and/or younger ages. Our day then consists of providing age-appropriate activities like games, painting, slime making, arts/crafts and much more! Each activity is carefully designed to meet the specific needs and abilities of each child/adolescent, and all activities are provided in compliance with hospital policies.

Internship Opportunities

Our Victory Junction REACH Program provides internship opportunities during the fall, spring and summer months. These internship opportunities are available in Charlotte and Greenville, NC at this time.

As a Victory Junction REACH Intern, one will gain knowledge and hands-on experience working with pediatric patients and their families, ages 6-16 years old, in the hospital/clinical settings. This opportunity will enhance professional development for those seeking a career in the medical setting, camping, and/or programming field. This internship is not affiliated with Child Life or Recreation Therapy, but rather a specific career building internship through Victory Junction. The REACH Internship provides students with 100-120 hours each semester in a pediatric clinical setting. Interns work under the direct supervision of the REACH Program Director with support for REACH Managers.

Some of the qualifications one must have to apply are some college experience, must be 19 years of age, and have previous experience working with pediatric patients but not necessarily in a healthcare setting. All interns are required to submit immunization/COVID vaccine records before starting. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please email REACH Program Director, Angela Miller Bryan.
