Henry’s House Program Will Serve Medically Complex Children and Families

RANDLEMAN, N.C. (Jul. 30, 2025) – Victory Junction, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and Trillium Health Resources, announced today the launch of Henry’s House Program, a year-round respite care program that will serve children ages 6 to 16 living with complex medical and physical needs, intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), Autism, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).The program will be located at Victory Junction’s medically safe, fully accessible campus in Randleman, N.C., with services set to begin in 2026. NCDHHS and Trillium Health Resources are investing a combined $3.9 million to fund program development and delivery:

  • $1,516,000 from NCDHHS, through its Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services and the Division of Child and Family Well-Being
  • $2,400,000 from Trillium Health Resources

“Henry’s House at Victory Junction will provide a safe, joyful, and inclusive space for children and a much-needed respite option for families and caregivers,” said Kelly Crosbie, Director of the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services.“This is not just another facility – it’s a promise to families that they are not alone,” added Yvonne Copeland, Director of the N.C. Division of Child and Family Well-Being.Henry’s House Program will offer short-term overnight respite care designed to provide children with enriching camp-style activities and social connection while their caregivers receive essential time to rest and recharge. The program will feature:

  • Home-like, fully accessible lodging for overnight stays
  • Tailored programming for children with I/DD, Autism, and TBI
  • Trained respite care teams and onsite medical support
  • Opportunities for independence, exploration, and play
  • A safe, inclusive environment grounded in community and compassion

“For over 20 years, Victory Junction has created fun, life-changing moments for children living with complex medical and physical needs,” said Chad Coltrane, CEO of Victory Junction. “The Henry’s House Program will build on our abilities to make an even larger impact by offering rest, adventure, and comfort to kids and their families or caregivers when they need it most.”

The program is expected to serve over 150 respite experiences for children and families annually, operating alongside Victory Junction’s traditional year-round programming, which includes summer camps, spring and fall weekend sessions, partner programs, and hospital outreach.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to reimagining care for children with different abilities,” said Cindy Ehlers, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Trillium Health Resources. “Henry’s House is a model for what investments in family-centered, community-based support can look like.” Trillium has named the program in honor of a young boy named Henry, whose resilience inspires support for children living with complex needs and their families/caregivers.

This marks the second Henry’s House Program funded by Trillium, following a similar respite program announced in June 2025 with Easterseals PORT Health in Burgaw, N.C.

    • Passenger vehicles only; motorcycles are not permitted.
    • Maximum speed is 55 miles per hour and regulated by Richmond Raceway personnel.
