Local Woman Urges Participation in Run to Victory to Support Kids at Victory Junction

RANDLEMAN, N.C. (Aug. 19, 2025) – Victory Junction will host its annual Run to Victory on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 a.m. on the camp’s grounds, inviting runners, walkers, rollers, and strollers to help fuel life-changing camp experiences for children living with complex medical and physical needs.
For local participant Cindi Heafner, the event is more than a race – it’s a way to provide life-changing experiences to children. Last year, Heafner, who is from Monroe, set a fundraising goal of $5,000 when she signed up for her first Run to Victory. The response from friends and supporters was immediate. Within weeks, she surpassed her goal, doubled it, and ultimately raised $15,000 to help send kids to camp.
With a mix of walking and running, Heafner also crossed a 5K finish line for the first time. “It was a personal goal as well as a goal for camp,” she said. “I just remember tooting my own horn for a moment that I made it.”
This year, Heafner, will be back on the course and is encouraging others to join her. “You don’t have to be a runner to make a difference,” she said. “You can walk part of it. You’ve got one hour in your life to donate to this camp. That’s all it takes to do a 5K. It’s a wonderful feeling to give to Camp.”
Heafner has also witnessed firsthand the joy that Victory Junction brings to children and families. “There are so many children that need this. The doctors, the nurses, the staff, the volunteers—everybody is wonderful with these kids. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to them,” she said.
