Brewing empowerment

Gabi is a vivacious vibrant young woman. She break dances, loves fashion, and wears mismatched outfits. She’s determined to build a better world. And, we admire everything about her.

From 2008 to 2017, Gabi spent her summers at Victory Junction. It was a chance to make even more friends, shoot bull’s-eyes in archery, and play basketball and kickball. She loved the dance parties in the Fuel Stop and dancing during Stage Night. She colored her hair blue at the Fab Shop!

At Camp, Gabi was free to be her whole self – her camp self. She was encouraged to be her camp self outside the gates too. Experiences at Victory Junction foster perseverance, self-confidence, and compassion and empathy, so what was next for Gabi?

After high school graduation, she had a difficult time finding a job. But, she is tenacious. Undeterred. Gabi decided to start her own business – a place where she and her friends could work. And so became Gabi’s Grounds, a coffee shop with a mission “to empower the special abilities community to find their place in the world and enjoy fulfillment in everything they do.”

For Gabi, her coffee shop is an opportunity to brew empowerment, not just for herself but for others too. If you want to support Gabi and enjoy really delicious coffee, head over to Gabi’s Grounds.
