A Letter From a Donor

Support for all the children yet to come

My husband, David, loved the sport of racing. He got me hooked on NASCAR, and we, along with his best friend Andy, shared ten seats at the Loudon race track. When we heard that Adam Petty died in a crash at Loudon; we were devastated. We learned that Adam was starting a camp for children, and David, being the most generous person I know, wanted to do something for all these kids.

We went to Victory Junction, and they gave us a grand tour. We left with tears in our eyes and both saying, “This is where we have to give back.” We opened a trust fund, and on camp’s 10th Anniversary, VJ arranged for me and another one of David’s best friends, B.T. (my husband had passed away in 2011 of cancer), to present a very generous check to Mr. Richard Petty at Loudon. Even though my husband was not standing next to me as I presented this check, I know he was so proud to be able to give all these kids the joy and excitement of attending VJ. We saw the sparkle in all the children’s eyes, a sight we will never forget!
