Jeffrey Lewallen

When Jeffrey Lewallen attended summer camp at Victory Junction in 2007 and 2008, he discovered a confidence that shaped his life’s direction and now he’s doing everything he can to make sure others know the power of Camp.

“Something I discovered about myself is that if there’s something – a challenge – that I can take on, I’m going to do my best to take it on,” Jeffrey said.

That newfound ability turned into a superpower that ultimately led Jeffrey to High Point University, where he graduated and now works as Manager of Strategic Initiatives at the Workman School Dental Medicine.

Jeffrey says Camp helped him think bigger and step into opportunities with confidence. “I believe my time at Victory Junction really empowered me to really think outside of the box of what I could do. Really put myself out there into different scenarios and opportunities.”

That superpower eventually brought Jeffrey back to Victory Junction. After introducing members of the dental school’s leadership team to Victory Junction, Jeffrey helped create an opportunity for HPU students to engage in service learning at Camp.

Jeffrey’s continued involvement at Camp quickly led to his nomination to join the Victory Junction’s Board of Directors.

“Taking the skills from my career that I’ve formed and being able to bring that back to Victory Junction and give back to more families, more campers, and bring these opportunities to more people and bring Victory Junction to the limelight that it deserves – that’s been the most impactful thing I think I have done and probably will ever be able to add to my resume.”

It’s no surprise Jeffrey wants as many people as possible to experience the joy and power of Camp for themselves.

“For a family considering sending their kid to camp, but just not quite sure – give this place a shot. For those who haven’t heard of Victory Junction, I empower you to look at the website, to come and see what we really, truly offer. Because you’re going to see the story. You’re going to see the success. And then you see the smiling faces that our campers have.”

At Victory Junction, campers living with complex medical and physical needs discover courage, confidence, and a lifelong connection to a community that believes in discovering what’s possible.
