Running may not be her passion but making an impact for children living with complex medical and physical needs certainly is. Last year, Cindi Heafner signed up to complete Run to Victory and set an initial fundraising goal of $5,000. The response was immediate. “We got to $5,000 pretty quickly. So, I thought, okay, let’s go to ten. And we got to ten pretty quickly too.” With the support of friends, she made one final push and proudly reached $15,000.

For Cindi, Run to Victory was more than a fundraiser – it was also a personal milestone. With a mix of walking and running, she crossed a 5K finish line for the first time. “It was a personal goal as well as a goal for camp,” she said. “I just remember tooting my own horn for a moment that I made it.”

Cindi, who will be participating again in this year’s run, says people don’t have to be runners to make a difference. “You can walk part of it. You’ve got one hour in your life to donate to this camp. That’s all it takes to do a 5K. It’s a wonderful feeling to give to Camp.”

Cindi has witnessed firsthand the impact Victory Junction has on children and families. “There are so many children that need this. The doctors, the nurses, the staff, the volunteers – everybody is wonderful with these kids. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to them.”

Sign up today for this year’s Run to Victory on Saturday, September 13, at 7:30 a.m. at Victory Junction! Registration is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the Fun Run. Every participant receives a t-shirt and goodie bag, and awards will be presented to the top three overall finishers as well as the top two fastest runners in each age group.
