Facebook is teaming with JP Morgan Chase to donate $5 million to charities.

The joint effort, called Chase Community Giving, allows the social networking site's more than 300 million users to vote for the charity of their choice from among 5,000 nonprofit organizations.

Voting for the first round started Sunday and will go through Dec. 11. On Dec. 15, 100 charities winning $25,000 will be announced. A second round of voting will take place from Jan. 15 to 29, with the winner netting $1 million and five runner-ups receiving $100,000 on Feb. 1, according to Facebook.

In addition, an advisory board that includes actress Eva Longoria, Do Something founder Nancy Lublin and NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson will allocate a total of $1 million to the nominated charities of its choice, the Business Insider reports.

“The grassroots nature of Facebook will allow us to hear directly which local charities matter most to our communities, hopefully creating an even bigger impact,” Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of JP Morgan Chase & Co. told Business Insider.
